Doug King together with Mike Coleman launched ‘The Merchant Commodity Fund’ in June 2004 under Aisling Analytics Pte Ltd. Aisling Analytics Pte Ltd was later renamed RCMA Asset Management Pte Ltd.
Doug spent 10 years of his career with Cargill, he was Head of UK Grain and Non Grain Feed Ingredients business in the late 1990’s before moving to become the Trading Head of Cargill’s Global Petroleum Trading business in Geneva. Between 2001 and 2003 Doug was Head of Oil Trading for Crown Resources (a subsidiary of the Russian conglomerate Alfa group) based in Switzerland and spent a year consulting for a large commodity hedge fund.
Doug graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Mathematical Engineering from Loughborough University, England in 1990.
Chris PardeyChief Executive Officer, Director
Chris Pardey joined RCMA Group as CEO in 2010 and under his leadership, expanded RCMA Group’s portfolio of agriculture offerings and started its energy business. Chris brings more than 30 years of commodity experience to the Group.
He joined the group from Barclays Capital where he was global head of trading agricultural products, coal and freight. From 2006 to 2010, Chris also worked for Merrill Lynch Commodities in Singapore. Before moving to Singapore to head Noble's grain and oilseed business as Managing Director, Chris spent 20 years with Cargill, in Europe, in trading and asset management roles focused on oilseeds and vegetable oils. A veteran in the commodities business, Chris started his career with BP in 1981 as a graduate trainee.
Chris holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Brunel University London.
Jonathan DrakeChief Operating Officer, Director
Jonathan Drake joined RCMA Group as COO in 2012 and built RCMA Sugar into a leading participant in the white sugar containerized trading business. Jonathan brings over 30 years of commodity trading experience with investments in milling, refining and handling of sugar and ethanol.
He had started his career with Cargill in 1985, where after six years in non-grain feed ingredients and the US grain business, he joined the sugar division in Geneva. Jonathan was responsible for building the Cargill sugar business into a leading global sugar industry player with a very profitable track record. He spent the next 21 years in different trading and management roles, and is credited with building that business into a leading global sugar industry player.
Jonathan holds an Master of Science in Economics from the London School of Economics.
Michael Coleman founded RCMA Asset Management Pte Ltd (formerly known as Aisling Analytics Pte Ltd).Together with his partner Doug King, they manage The Merchant Commodity Fund. A proprietary commodity trader since starting work in 1982 Michael worked for Cargill for 19 years in a variety of commodity trading and trading management positions.
In 2001 Michael in conjunction with Marubeni, founded U Derivatives where he was Chief Operating Officer until April 2004. Michael has been based in Singapore since 1984. He is active in and a former Chairman of the Singapore Chapter of the Alternative Investment Management Association.
A UK citizen, Michael was born in St Helens Lancashire and is a director of St Helens Rugby League Football Club. He studied at Exeter College Oxford where he took a Bachelor of Arts in Natural Science (Geology).
Ricardo CheungChief Financial Officer
Ricardo Cheung joined the RCMA Group in September 2015. He is responsible for leading financial leadership and group financial initiatives, corporate finance and treasury, as well as, corporate governance, organizational design and reporting. He had held senior financial leadership positions in Australia, China, Japan and Singapore with Giti Tire, IMC Pan Asia Alliance Group, PSA International, April Management, Norske Skog, ABB, Commonwealth Bank of Australia and BHP Billiton.
He is a Fellow of CPA Australia and a Senior Certified Finance and Treasury Professional. He also completed leadership programs at IMD and INSEAD. Mr. Cheung has more than 28 years of experience in corporate control and finance, treasury and risk management.
Mr. Cheung holds a Master of Applied Finance from Macquarie University and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Newcastle in Australia.
